Free! Movie in the Park

There's no better way to spend a cool summer night in Upper St. Clair than enjoying a great movie in the great outdoors!

The Community Foundation of Upper St. Clair presents the first ever, FREE MOVIE IN THE PARK, at Boyce Mayview Park on Thursday, September 2, 2010. Guests are encouraged to bring along a blanket and picnic under the stars with friends and family to watch this classic summertime movie, The Sandlot.

Concession Stand will be open for sales of light snacks and drinks.

Snapology

If you like to build with Lego Bricks you'll love the C&RC's newest addition to the Community & Enrichment Fall / Winter 2010 Programs! Snapology sessions begin early September and include a variety of classes, for all ages and interests.

Indoor Pool Closing

The Indoor Aquatics Facility will be closed starting Thursday, August 26, 2010 and will be reopening Friday, September 3, 2010. Annual maintenance includes the following:

  • Draining both the indoor leisure pool and lap pool completely of all water
  • Cleaning/power-washing all plastered, concrete and tiled surfaces
  • Cleaning all play structures and waxing all indoor slides
  • Cleaning, buffing and polishing all stainless steel surfaces
  • Disassembling and cleaning equipment including chlorinators, acid feeders, Diatomaceous Earth filters and Ultraviolet Light Systems
  • Visually inspecting all circulating pumps and greasing all moveable parts
  • Visually inspect and clean all boilers and change air filters
  • Refilling pool with water and adjusting chemicals to ranges set by Allegheny Health Department

NEW! Art Programs

This fall, artist Rikki Walsh, introduces a variety of programs for all ages! From Art Adventures Together (Ages 3-5 w/ adult) to Pre-K Watercolors and Youth Cartooning, Rikki has designed these programs to enrich each child’s knowledge of art while exploring a an assortment of materials.

Also coming this Fall, Adult Learn Water Color Painting and Learn Acrylic Painting! In these classes you will learn the tricks and techniques of successful painting. Classes are all hands-on and each participant has an opportunity to show and tell. For all levels!

Lab Ratz Science Club

Lab Ratz Science Club is coming back to the C&RC! Each 5-week session will present basic science principles in an engaging, hands-on manner which will encourage youngsters to be inventive and creative, to question the world around them, and to make discoveries through firsthand experimentation. Each session will introduce new material!

Days: Mondays
Dates: Session 1 - September 20-October 18 (Grades 1-5)
Times: 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Fees $85.00 Member per session
$90.00 Resident Non-member per session
$95.00 Surrounding Community Non-Member per session

Gymnasium Closure

Due to annual maintenance of the main gymnasium which includes the following:

  • Clean and prepare the entire floor area to receive new floor finish.
  • Prep floor by using waterless cleaner to remove scuff marks, and foreign matter.
  • Burnish entire floor by using high grit sanding pad on side by side disc sander.
  • Clean all debris and dust prior to applying finish. This includes the walls, baseboards, vents, hand rails, steel beams and duct work in the ceiling.
  • Tack Floor area with waterless cleaner.
  • Apply (1) one coat of oil modified 350 VOC Polyurethane Gymnasium Floor Finish.
  • Let floor finish dry and cure for 72 hours before usage.

The main Gymnasium will be closed starting Monday, September 13, 2010 and is scheduled to reopen on Monday September 20, 2010.
